Case Study 02 · Building an enterprise data product for 18,000+ users
Turning enterprise data into a product people could actually use.
A $8M business intelligence and data-warehousing initiative inside a $40M+ Oracle Retek implementation at Walt Disney World — product leadership at the intersection of business, technology, data, and experience.
The problem wasn’t a lack of data. It was access to useful information.
Disney was implementing a large-scale Oracle Retek environment and needed business intelligence and data warehousing capabilities that could translate complex enterprise data into information business users could actually act on. My role sat at the intersection of business, technology, data, product, and experience.
Product leadership across the entire lifecycle.
Translating technical complexity into business decisions.
The challenge was never simply:
“Build a data warehouse.”
It was:
“How do we make a complex enterprise information environment understandable, discoverable, and useful to thousands of business users?”
Business, product, and technology — connected through one role.
My job was to connect all three.
“What decisions need to be made?”
“What information exists?”
“How should users discover and understand it?”
Making a complex information environment discoverable.
Representative reconstruction based on my role; proprietary Disney information and screens are omitted.
End-to-end product ownership.
Organizations still need leaders who can translate complex technical capabilities into products that solve real operational problems, align diverse stakeholders, and deliver measurable enterprise value.
